Since most flower lovers are women, the study’s findings will advantage female teenagers intrigued by floral arrangements. Therefore, flower lovers can leverage the findings to create floral arrangements to gift their loved ones, namely love partners, family friends, and friends.

General goals: To inform my audience how to make a floral arrangement

Specific goal: To demonstrate a step-by-step procedure for making a floral arrangement to my audience. 

Introduction

Would you love to master the art of flower arrangement to help gift a decent flower to your loved ones? Or would you like to be among the fewer people with sophisticated skills in creating incredible floral arrangements? If so, I will guide you on how to make a decent floral arrangement. Floral Arrangement is defined as the decorative Arrangement of flowers per the underlying occasion. Therefore, floral arrangement skills help people design flowers matching the expected occasions from marriage, thanksgiving, burial, engagement, etc., earning the gifted appraises. To effectively equip flower lovers with floral arrangement skills, this study will firstly discuss the floral arrangement concepts, namely floral arrangement styles, designs, and principles. Lastly, the study discloses six floral arrangement steps. Notably, understanding the above floral arrangement concepts likewise induces a better understanding of the six floral arrangement steps.

1. Floral Arrangement’s Styles.

There are four prominent floral arrangement styles. Bouquets, floral arrangements, floral baskets, and floral wreaths are the four floral arrangement styles (Alka, Kumar, & Nag, 2022). Floral bouquets are straightforward to construct compared to formal flower arrangements (Alka, Kumar, & Nag, 2022). Roses are the most common flower for bouquets, followed by gerbera, carnations, and chrysanthemums. In table centerpieces, standard flowers are arranged-intended for use on banquet tables on holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. (Alka, Kumar, & Nag, 2022). Using memorabilia or traditional décor, you can communicate the event’s concept. The buffet table is ideal for complex vegetables, fruits, and vegetables. Floral baskets arrangement is noticed as flowers are arranged in baskets of varying depths (Alka, Kumar, & Nag, 2022). Often, flowers arranged in floral basket style are exceptionally presented as gifts during the Christmas holidays. The floral Wreath style necessitates the Arrangement of flowers in a circular garland shape. Wreaths are especially popular at funerals as a mark of remembrance for the deceased. In addition, they have frequently employed as welcome wreaths on holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas when banquets are hosted.

Each style of flower arrangement must adhere to the six floral arrangement principles. The six fundamentals principles are:

• The design principle determines the Arrangement of flowers in the given structural pattern. It is a diagram depicting the floral Arrangement’s dimensions (Agama, 2022). The underlying occasion and materials mainly determinants of underlying floral arrangement design.

The design of a line arrangement is predominately formed when flowers are arranged in a line, with minimal foliage and flowers sitting at the focal point. Often, a lined ornamental wood is used to line up flowers. A few blooms and leaves are required to generate a striking image. Flower enthusiasts frequently use it since it highlights the beauty of the plant material (Charlie, 2021).

In contrast, mass arrangement design depicts an assortment of flowers in a painted China vase. Similarly, it is favored by flower enthusiasts due to its elegance. Finally, Line-mass creations utilize mass to provide a stronger sense of depth as plant materials are arranged in an ordered shape creating a focal point (Charlie, 2021). Since line-mass designs are either asymmetrical or symmetrical balance, they are widely demanded. Compared to the other two floral arrangement designs, line-mass is highly preferred by the majority of flower lovers.

iv. How God is honored when making a floral arrangement.

Majority of religious groups views floral arrangement honorary to God. For instance, Buddhism leverage floral arrangement to honor God as they associate floral arrangement with purity. Hinduism, on the other hand, use floral arrangement during Hindu prayer rituals-puja mainly to honor their gods as it symbolize love. Lastly, Christian honor God via floral arrangement as it symbolize compassion. As a result, most Christian shows God compassionate by presenting a floral arrangement to their love ones. Noticeably, Christians and other religious groups, such as Hinduism has been using floral arrangement for divine purpose since 2800 BCE.

1. The steps to making a floral arrangement.

There are eight steps of the making of making a floral arrangement. The understanding of floral arrangement concepts highlighted in the above sections I to IV gives a deeper understanding of these eight steps of making a floral arrangement; the eight steps are discussed below.

Step 1: Decide on a flower arrangement design.

As observed, there are three flower arrangements available for selection. Line, line-mass, and mass arrangements are the three floral designs. One must consider their preferences or personality to choose the ideal flower arrangement design. For instance, a person with an elegant personality should use line-mass floral arrangements (Almeida & Ferro, 2022). It consists of various flowers placed in a beautiful China vase, which accommodates the individual’s desire for elegance.

On the other hand, a person desiring a dramatic effect should choose line arrangements and flower design. Flowers are put in a line beside a piece of ornate wood and a few additional flowers and foliage to create a spectacular flower pattern. As an alternative to flower arrangement designs, flower lovers can select their preferred flower arrangement form, including floral bouquets, table centerpieces, floral baskets, and floral wreaths.

Step 2: Material collection

The second step after selecting the preferred flower arrangement design is obtaining the necessary materials. Regardless of the design, floral tape, clippers, wire, foam, paper, cloth, and roses are typical items required for flower arrangement (Almeida & Ferro, 2022). However, the flower vase differs based on the flower pattern chosen. Those who choose line-mass flower arrangements should utilize vases with adorned Chinese paintings. On the other hand, those interested in line arrangements and floral design should use a piece of ornamental wood as the flower vessel. Those interested in line-mass flower design are permitted to use a variety of flower vases, such as China vase portraits, decorative pieces of wood, etc.

Step 3: Flowers preparation

After selecting a recommended flower vessel that corresponds with the chosen flower arrangement design, flower enthusiasts should prepare flowers. To prepare flowers, excess leaves and damaged petals must be removed from stems (Almeida & Ferro, 2022). Second, undesirable buds are removed from the same stem as a complete flower (Almeida & Ferro, 2022). The necessary floral parts are then thoroughly cleaned. The cleaned stem is then sliced diagonally to the bottom of the stems. The diagonally-cut step is then placed in an appropriate vase.

Step 4. The prepared flowers are arranged according to a specific style of floral Arrangement.

The flowers should be placed in a consistent arrangement in an acceptable container containing water and then cut diagonally. The first subtopic describes the four most common flower arrangements: floral bouquets, table centerpieces, floral baskets, and floral wreaths. To embellish a flower arrangement, one must use a base of foliage (Almeida & Ferro, 2022). Examples of typical greenery include eucalyptus, fem, and ivy. For aesthetic purposes, the greenery is organized in various shapes, such as triangular and horizontal.

Step 5: Include focal and filler flowers.

Typically, focal flowers are enormous blooms or those with a unique hue or texture. Include only odd digits for a more natural appearance. To avoid having the focal flowers appear droopy, position them in a sturdy, upright position, so they do not protrude from the Arrangement (Almeida & Ferro, 2022). Finally, filler flowers are added to the area left by diagonally cut primary and focal flowers. Not only is the floral Arrangement created lovely and fragrant, but it also appears robust.

 Step 6: Confirmation

The floral Arrangement opted to be reviewed for possible correction. One should assess adherence to the six flower arrangement principles.
